UNIT Genetics and Inheritance
Essential ideas:
- Every living organism inherits a blueprint for life from its parents.
- Chromosomes carry genes in a linear sequence that is shared by members of a species.
- The inheritance of genes follows patterns.
- Meiosis leads to independent assortment of chromosomes and unique composition of alleles in daughter cells.
- What might happen during meiosis if two genes are located next to each other on a chromosome?
- If three genes control a single feature how many different combinations are there of alleles, assuming 2 alleles for each gene?
